Homecoming Talk

Image
Say appropriate thank yous and such  Maayong Aga brothers and sisters. My name is Hannah Larson and I returned from the Iloilo, Philippines Mission just two ish weeks ago. On my Mission I spoke Hiligaynon, Karay-ah, Aklanon and a little bit of Tagalog. I am missing the 90 degree heat right now. I have a deep love for the Philippines and the Filipino people. They are the kindest people I have ever met and almost everyone you meet would love to hear a message about Jesus Christ and feed you. My mission means more to me than any other experience I have ever had. I have a few stories and principles I want to share but more than anything I hope that someone here will feel the holy ghost or receive a prompting through what I share.  I talked about this a little in my farewell talk but I wanted to share my experience of deciding to serve a mission. I hope something I share will resonate with some of you. I grew up in the church. My family had always read the scriptures. Around Junior...

"I Cannot Say The Smallest Part Which I Feel"

Image
I can't believe this is my last email. There are no words to describe how I feel right now. This is the best decision I have ever made and I will forever be grateful I got to serve in the Philippines. MY JOY IS FULL Alma 26:16 “16 Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.” … Here's some moments from my last full week in the mission. First of all…. (see pictures) Because I forgot last week BACK WITH MY EX (see pictures) I had my last exchanges this week and I got to work with Sister Pecundo again. My 4th companion in the field. From “ok lang magtugro kami kang picture ni jesucristo kanimo?” To “ok lang maghatag kami sang Book of Mormon sa imo?”. Palangga tak...

Departure And Itinerary

Dear Melissa Larson, As the time approaches Sister Larson will complete her service in the Philippines Iloilo Mission, Sister Pearson and I know the joy and anticipation you feel. It is a great experience to have your daughter return from the wonderful and maturing work of serving her fellow brothers, sisters and our Heavenly Father in the mission field. Sister Larson  will leave our mission on December 27, 2024 to begin the journey home. She has been an excellent missionary, serving valiantly and selflessly in the service of the Lord.  We have enjoyed working with your daughter.  People who feel discouraged about the young people of today would be surprised if they were to spend some time with your daughter and associates.  Sister Pearson and I consider our work and association with Sister Larson to be a privilege.  As each missionary completes their missionary service, we feel great satisfaction in the magnificent work that has been done and greater sadness as...

11 Days

My mission is speedily coming to an end and my heart is so full. If two years ago you had told me that in two years I would be about to finish serving a mission in the Philippines I would have laughed in your face. A mission was nowhere in my 5 year plan but I am eternally grateful I listened to the prompting to serve, even though it wasn't something I originally wanted to do. God knew and knows me better and knew that my time as a full time missionary in Iloilo Mission would make me who I needed to be. I know where I would be if I had not served and I’m grateful that's not what I chose. My mission has been the most joyous experience of my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I had a great week and I'm really just trying to soak in every last moment.  Please enjoy  MONDAY We got to go to SM on Monday and we got some scrumptious DQ ice cream. Feat. My very bestest friends Sister Pecundo kag Sister Ambao.  (see pictures) TUESDAY Insert collage from work on Tues...

Condolence Sandwich

Image
Jaro 2nd B Dirty gutter water Cigarettes and snowbears But God is still everywhere  (see pictures) This is me looking at the dengue/ rat soup. Candid moment. Then I ran away from Sister Arnold. Character Building.  CONDOLENCE SANDWICH (see pictures) We dropped by one of our baptisimal candidates this week to confirm a family home evening and when we got there he was low key weird. But he was super excited and told us how he had stopped smoking cigarettes. Then we got closer to his house and saw the party and Tanduay going on inside. I was like “hey brother, did you drink alcohol?” and he was like “no” and then he threw his head back and did a joker style laugh. And I was like “you sure brother?”. Anyway, he ended up giving us sandwiches with semi cooked pasta and butter on the inside and we had to just like hold them because we didn’t want to throw it away or anything but it was not giving sandwich. Then we met a member who wanted to take a picture with us but we were still ju...
