A Sick Week
As the title of this email suggests this was a sick week. It actually was super normal but we got sick the second half of the week heheh. Anyway life is still good here. Everyone said being sick on your mission is the worst and I can confirm. But with that being said it actually was still a good week my body just felt like it hated me.
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the states! I had chicken and rice so hah.

GET THE GOAT
This week we met a cute group of kids who wanted us to talk to them. So we taught them how to pray, and shared a short video about forgiving our friends and then gave them photos of Jesus. They all sat quietly and listened and anytime we asked a question each of them shot their hand up and was eager to answer. So so cute. Then when we asked if we could take a picture one of them said wait. So he ran behind the house and then came back with a goat. Obviously we couldn't take the photo until we had the goat. How foolish of us.
Also if the goat looks like it's been strangled it's because it was.
OUR AREA
So this week we were looking at our area map and we realized that where we thought the edge of our area was actually juts out a little so we had a few more blocks than we thought. So we did some exploring and trying to contact people who have previously been taught by the missionaries.
This is in the area we were exploring and it's officially my favorite sign. Also this photo has a jeepney in it for those who are still confused.
On our way to Ireland. There was no Irish. But there were lots of dragonflies and cows.
On our way to visit some members. Its kinda crazy to me that we have areas like this in our area but then we also have more suburban areas and beaches. #welcometoOton.

90 DEGREE CHRISTMAS
So the Philippines has been celebrating Christmas since December but this week the celebration has really intensified. There's something so fabulous about hearing someone blasting "Let it Snow" while walking down the street in like 90 degree heat. And they were barbecuing in the street shirtless. Classic.
Anyway it's obviously still hot here so sometimes we just have to stop and but popsicles so we don't overheat/cry.
Also you can kinda tell how sweaty we actually are in this photo.

SAKIT
So the word for pain is "sakit" and that is kinda also used for sickness. Anyway like I said before we were sick the second half of this week. And let me tell yah. There's nothing quite like wearing a mask while proselytizing in the Philippines. We're talking slick with sweat within minutes. But still we were able to do some good work.
This photo is of some cousins we visit every sunday and we gave them Books of Mormon! This photo was taken right after some kid spiked a volleyball into sister Francisquete's face.

2 CORINTHIANS 4
So I'm really starting to love Paul. I was studying Corinthians this week because it has some really important doctrine about the Plan of Salvation and I ended up just gobbling up the whole chapter. Paul talks about his missionary efforts and describes it in verse 5 as "We preach not of ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake." He gave his whole life to serving other people and sharing the gospel but that doesn't mean it was easy. In verse 8 he says " We are troubled on every side, yet we are not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed." Obviously my situation is not nearly as extreme as Paul's but it was a good reminder to me that I can still have trials, rejections, sickness and just hard days without letting them affect my personal attitude. But this kind of endurance isn't possible by just mere will power. We need to turn to Christ. In verse 15 Paul wrote " For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many rebound to the glory of God." Trials are here to help us learn to rely on Christ. I testify to what Paul says in verse 17 " for our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." Our light and heavy afflictions are for but a moment and are meant to make us stronger.
I'm grateful for Christ and His atonement that helps me become stronger everyday.
I love you all, I love my family and I love this gospel.
