Feeling Poetic
This week has absolutely inspired me. So I wrote a haiku.
Ode to San Jose
My shoes are dusty
My clothes are musty
The fish here can be crusty
It may be hard to believe but I actually just wrote that this morning.
But for real this week had some legit highs and lows. Allow me to illustrate them.
ONE DAY MISSION
So there is this thing called a one day mission. Basically lots of missionaries all go to one area and work with the members there to visit families and find new people to teach. So Sister Pecundo and I worked half a day in Hamtic! It's a gorgeous area and it was really good practice just walking up and talking to people. But we got to meet some cute families and set some return appointments so hopefully we were able to help out the Hamtic area!

RIP
So this week we had to call our mission President, President Nagtalon to ask permission for some of our interested people to be baptized. We thought they would all be fine but we realized we had misunderstood some of the requirements and they all had to be moved. Kinda a bummer but it's definitely the right decision to help make sure they will become lifelong disciples of Christ.
PEARL
This week we were able to extend a baptism date to Sister Pearl! The senior couple, the Peters, came with us and shared their testimony of the atonement and Pearl told us how she thinks God has been giving her “clues” that this church is true. She said she feels peace in the church and she reads the Book of Mormon to feel strong. She accepted the baptism date so everyone pray that it goes through!
She came to church yesterday!! That's her in the pink!

SISTER JULIE
When I tell you I have never met anyone as prepared to be baptized as Sister Julie. We only met her about a month ago and she will be baptized this Saturday! She has literally been prepared to be perfectly ready to become a member. It's been completely humbling to see how little I actually have to do with this work. We as missionaries are 100% just instruments. It's not about how well I can speak the language or how eloquently we teach the lessons. It is 100% about finding people who are ready and then helping them feel the spirit. Sister Julie is absolutely awesome and I'm so excited for her!
Sister Julie is wearing the glasses (the one without the baby).

OUR DEAF MEMBERS
We had some new people in our asl class this week and one of our members even brought a friend! We are learning more and more asl. Gift of tongues is real. Gift of sign?

TEMPLE
This week I read the talk “The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation” by President Nelson. He compares the renovation of the Salt Lake Temple to our own personal spiritual foundation. He talks all about how our covenants give us power to withstand spiritual earthquakes and trials. He said “The temple lies at the center of strengthening our faith and spiritual fortitude because the Savior and His doctrine are the very heart of the temple.” I've been studying our temple covenants this week and I've gained a whole new understanding. Our covenants are literally just a way for us to become more like christ. Yes they require a higher level of commitment but that's because the more we are committed to Christ, the more He can help us. We don't have a temple in Iloilo yet and I'm so jealous of missionaries who get to go to the temple. But to those of you who live near a temple this is your reminder to go. Go to the temple and go to feel Christ's love for you.
That's all for this week! Love you lots
