Chacos And Endangered Species

The rat ate my chacos.

Now that I got that off my chest let me tell you about my week. In order to better encapture your senses let me give you some background details…. It got up to 50° C this week which is quite undesirable. That's the only detail but it significantly impacted my will to live this week.

SAVE THE ENDANGERED SPECIES

One of the people we are teaching right now is named Cleo! He is 14, has read the Book of Mormon up till Alma and came to church this week! In our lesson with him on Saturday we shared about our purpose on earth and asked him what some of the things are that he thinks we should do on earth. He responded with prayer, be good people, go to church and of course save the endangered species. I said “So true”. Everyone reduce your carbon footprint please and bring reusable bags to the grocery store.

ABU AND JOVIE
(see pictures)

Sister Pernitez And I are still teaching Abu and Jovie and helping them prepare for baptism! This week they invited thier friends to join our lesson! At the end they taught their friends how to pray! Then the next sunday they came to church with Abu and Jovie! Not only are they sharing The gospel with their friends but their example has also helped their friends and neighbors who were once less active come back to church!

Their progress has not been withour trials. Remeber Jovie's father who was going to be baptized? Their house literally collapsed so he has been singlehandedly rebuilding their house and hasn't been able to join our lessons. What the heck Satan. But luckily we got the Elders Quorum and they are going to do a service project to help rebuild!

50°

This is real footage of two slightly stupid sister missionaries exploring their area at noon in sizzeling heat. Luckily we met some nice people who gave us iced tea. Which we obviously did not drink. You thought.

MJ
(see pictures)

We met our friend MJ this week! One of her friends from facebook referred her to us and asked us to give her a Book of Mormon! The whole experience was a reminder to me how simple it can be to share the gospel with our friends. If its something that's important to us we should be willing to share.

SIBALOM THINGS

Here's a little picture update on the Sibalom district.

BAG OF FISH

I had exchanges with Sister Largo this week and we worked in her area! We worked in an area on the beach where they all speak Cebuano. I was very helpful. We met so many cool people and I swear all of them gave us fish. Both dried and fresh. Also there was a lola trying to sell me to her shirtless grandson who had just finished fishing and the water pump like 4 feet away. I of course accepted.

BELONGING

I just wanted to share a cool quote from my personal study this week. In a talk by Elder Pingree he said “Belonging doesn't require us to change who we are; it requires us be who we are.” His talk focuses on our divine identity as children of God. He talks about how we might not feel that we belong in earthly circles but we all belong to a heavenly circle of brothers and sisters with divine nature and potential. As we strive to be true to our divine identity as children of God we can feel that we do have a circle we belong to. Thats all for now. God loves you so much and you are his. Don't forget :).

I love this gospel. Christ will support you in your trials. Do the simple things. Padayon gid kamo.
