Hey everyone, welcome back to another week in the promised land. Just a little update. I got some fake virus last week called Chikungunya. 0/1000 would not recommend. It's pretty much dengue without the platelet problems but your joints hurt like super bad. Pretty much Saturday- Thursday I woke up every morning feeling like a monster truck went x games on my ankles. Not a fan. It also made me super tired so I had to take a fat nap everyday. Kinda nice but it also made me feel like I was lazy and like all of our interested friends would decide they actually hate us.  Anyway, I conquered Chikungunya. We are victorious. Here's the rundown MONDAY 8 hours in the hospital. They took my blood. TUESDAY I was able to go to DCM and here is photo proof. Meet the new and one time only Makato District!! We said goodbye to Sister Licudine last week RIP. Sister Blake joined the crew. And then this last week Elder Bitner went home too. #gocougars. #makatodistrictforlife. After DCM I slept for ...

Bruh. I have to go to the hospital. I have all the symptoms of dengue. Let me tell ya, I love the Philippines but I am not obsessed with the healthcare. Anyway we have to go wait many hours for them to process my insurance. Here are some pics from this week. YOU’RE SO TRIPPING Sister Ugalino worked with us for a few days because he companion finished her mission. The Elders in our district taught her american slang and now she always says “you're so tripping”. Sister CastaƱaga has also started saying “the dogs are out”.  Lubrique family! We set a baptisimal date for Ate Nicole! Cahilig family! We met this little girl while we were eating lunch. She gave us all a kiss on the cheek and then took off the bracelets she was wearing and gave us each one. Definitely made my day. Sassy, bougie and rachet. (see pictures) MAMA MARY The Mama Mary thing has followed me here. The ward has started calling me Mama Mary and the other day I said hi to a tatay, he freaked out and then crossed himsel...

Chicken Blood On A Stick

Sheesh guys. This week was my official one year mark I have to say I literally did not think I would last this long but I'm so grateful I have. I can't possibly describe how much this one year has changed me. It has grown my confidence, my testimony has been strengthened, and I can now stomach several servings of rice without taking a pepto bismol. With that in mind here are some moments from the last two weeks that I never thought could have happened just one year ago.  CHICKEN BLOOD ON A STICK (see pictures) This week there was one day we were super punted (none of our appointments went through). So we decided to try and talk to the lady at the BBQ. She ended up giving me a free hotdog and some inihaw na dugo (congealed chicken blood). I've been too scared to try it but in light of my one year I gave it a try. Bruh. It literally just tastes like bbq but the consistency is like one of those hershey kisses with the air bubbles in it. Anyway the bbqer didn't accept our m...

Love The Work, Work With Love

Hey besties here's the chica BULWANG BLUES So we have this one area called Bulwang and someone got shot there this week and we can't wear red when we got there because it makes this one nanay really mad. But most importantly nanay Tuayon is from Bulwang. She is 70+ and a fashion gurlie. Meet nanay Tuayon. I hope she makes your day. We just asked if we could take a picture and she was like “ of course”. Nanay is my inspiration to stop dressing like a 2005 frumpy sister missionary.  (see pictures) LOVE THE WORK, WORK WITH LOVE You guysssss we had our MLC this week and it was an answer to so many of my prayers. We focused on building a culture of love for our savior in our mission. President said “Love the work, work with love.” Ok president drop some bars. We also talked about how we literally cannot be exactly obedient but we can be strictly obedient. It definitely helped me realize how much of a perfectionist I am when it comes to my missionary work. But there are no perfect mi...
