"Sa Taas"

This week was lots of new and saying goodbye to old. I said goodbye to my companion Sister Castañaga. We were companions for so long so it was like saying goodbye to my best friend. But mostly I'm excited for her and the next few chapters of her life. Palangga ta ka ate Eddielyn. Kitaay sa pagkasal mo. Osoyan mo ro gwapo.

I also met my new companion Sister Panuelos and she is sooooo baskog. She is small but fierce. She's straight up with our IPs and members and also literally hilarious. We're still getting to know eachother but she like One Direction so we should be good.

ANYWAY. here's the rundown

BYE BYE SISTER CASTAÑAGA

Early Wednesday morning I said goodbye to Sister Castañaga and sent her on the bus to Iloilo. RIP.

Saying goodbyes. Also my fit is wack because I didn't do my laundry last week. Please forgive.

LAST DCM. we didn't really get any good pics.

Last picture together RIP. Enjoy your life without me Sister. Eat some real Ilocano food and hug your mom. Nagzumba ako, ako lang isa, Kaeoy.

SISTER BLAKE SA DONGON

I got to work with Sister Blake again while we waited for our companions. We explored an area called Dongon and it was gorgeous, and we met a nanay who told us she has been searching and comparing religions to know which one is true. We explained the restoration to her and gave her a Book of Mormon. Headed back there on Wednesday. Sister Blake also made some mean spaghetti.

MAHUGGOD AG MAGAOY SA BIKE

I know I keep writing about this but I keep falling off my bike, almost never while the bike is moving.  Anyway Sister Panuelos is so baskog because we biked soooo far her first few days here and she did it with no complaints. We did become quite ravenous and had to buy snacks.

Brother Daren strikes again. He gave us so many vegetables again and we had to try and bike with them and people kept asking us if we had just come from the store.

TATAY BENJI

GUESS WHO CAME TO GENERAL CONFERENCE??? Tatay Benji. He BIKED from Numancia to Kalibo to attend. When we last visited him he explained to us how he wants to just focus on getting to God or “sa taas” (meaning higher) and then demonstrated how he was going to just elbow and push all the people and obstacles in his life out of the way. GO TATAY GO. We are praying he will have the courage to be baptized even without his child's consent. Pray for Tatay. @Sister Castañaga.

I promise he was happy to be there despite this mugshot.

Got to see some of our fellow Kalibo missionaries. We asked a member tatay To take this pic and he took like 3 pictures and all are from wack angles.

GENERAL CONFERENCE

The General Conference was fantabulous. I got to see all of my favorite characters in the choir. Mohak lady, baldy with a stach, ronald trump and the love of my life, Mack Wilberg. Sorry joke lang yun.

But for real the choir was outstanding. The Spirit of God trio had me crying a little.

The General Conference was an answer to so many of my prayers. I especially loved the talk from L. Todd Budge entitled “Seek Him With All Your Heart”. He talked about being still and the importance of living with “greater spiritual awareness.” One quote that sums up well what he shared says “When our focus is less on doing and more on strengthening our covenant connection with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, I testify that each of these sacred moments will be enriched, and we will receive the guidance needed in our personal lives.” It made me realize I need to focus less on things to do, and more on why I do them. Worry less about learning something new when I study my scriptures and more on just enjoying feeling the spirit. “...when praying, what if we were to spend less time talking and more time just being with God…”. This week I am going to try and be more meditative in my daily activities. Not just ride past the flowing rice fields pero take a moment to stop and breathe it all in. Spend more time with my creator. God loves us, let's set aside time to feel His love.
