Its Not About You

I don't have a lot to day this week other than God has been reminding me 🎶it's not about you🎶. That's an efy song for my friends who listen to music other than Nik Day.

ESTO FAMILY

Man idk what I ate but this day was not a good one for the stomach ni Sister Larson. I was teaching and I had to like tap Sister Panuelos to start over because I thought I was gonna puke. #gurlythings

VALENCIA FAMILY
(see pictures)

This family is the cutest. We challenged them to read the Book of Mormon. When we followed up we got about the answers we were expecting: “oh I read the first little bit”, “I was too busy” amo na. But their 13 year old daughter was like “I really liked the part about Enos. HUHHHH? Yah she’s cool.

NEDIC FAMILY
(see pictures)

Cool member family who gave us Almond Joys from Hong Kong.

MARISOL FAMILY
(see pictures)

Referral from our very mahuggod worker. This is Terry and her fam and she just started reading the Book of Mormon!

NANAY MARIAN
(see pictures)

Nanay Marian is a member but we didn't know she was a member because she hasn't been to church in decades. Well, her neighbor brought her to church and then we visited later. We helped her make a roof out of leaves. I forgot what it's called so you get my American explanation.

TABING FAMILY
(see pictures)

AHHHHH the Tabing Familyyyy. They are all members except for the one holding the Book of Mormon. We visited them and asked brother Jasper if he knew about baptism. He said yes. We asked if he also wanted to be baptized. He also said yes. I will be praying for the Tabing family. They live in a literal jungle area with mostly muslim people and their only transportation is a single motorcycle. But I’ve seen like 8 people ride one motorcycle so they got this.

THE TIME IS FAR SPENT

6 months later and my time in Numancia is up. This has been by far my hardest, most frustrating, stretching and downright stinky area. But it is holy ground. I needed this area because Christ taught me to be humble. From rolling rice fields to jungles to beaches and subdivisions God has been teaching me. Being chased by zombie dogs, walking through calf deep mud and falling off my bike countless times were character building experiences. But more than anything God has taught me that challenges = growth, and that this is simply not about me.

I read the third verse of “Savior, Redeemer of my Soul” in sacrament and I felt like it described what I have felt here in Numancia.

“O’errule mine acts to serve thine ends. Change frowning foes to smiling friends. Chasten my soul till I shall be In perfect harmony with thee. Make me more worthy of thy love, And fit me for the life above.”

He has indeed chastened my soul and I have become much more fit for the life above.

I know this church is true. God loves his children and we have divine potential. As we align our will with God's, through repentance, we can become new and better creatures. I know the Book of Mormon to be true and in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
