We Both Know We Aint Kids No More

Hello, its me. I'm in numancia dreamin’ about who we used to be……

I was going to write a whole Adele parody but I decided I have no time to choose what I chose to do. Yah.

LORAX

We had exchanges with the Makato Sisters and I worked with Sister Blake. Here are the main points.

Our litson manok (like a rotisserie chicken for my slc readers) fell off the handlebars of my bike and I ran over it with my bike but we still ate it. It's all good, we were real hungry.

I locked my bike (actually not the bike I was borrowing) to a tree because Sister Blake said she had the key. Anyway, she said wrong and I had to go find a man with a saw to cut down the tree because those bike locks are indestructible. I felt so bad, I kept playing scenes from the Lorax in my head. Here is said tree and the cutest member family we met before cutting down their tree.

Also side note- I love that here I can just ask a random man to cut down a tree for me and he just gets a saw and gets it done.

Sister Blake's tire went flat even after we got it vulcanized so we gave up and started chasing pavements in a trike instead.

"THROW YOUR SOUL THROUGH EVERY OPEN DOOR”

Sister Panuelos and I have been really trying to push our work out here. Thus, we are throwing ourselves through every open door. Get it? But legit we are trying to talk to everyone, especially those we may have previously overlooked or missed.

Met the Valencia family who commited to come to church! Guess what- they didn’t come. It’s ok, just water under the bridge.

The Maagad family joined us in teaching the Crispino Family about the temple! Their testimonies were so strong! (The Crispino family also didn't come to church Lol)

This is Jamela one of our new members! She only 14 but is so baskog (strong- my my slc readers @sarah wixom I got you covered).

YSA with mission calls joined us to teach Nanay Lilia and her granddaughter Maya!

We adopted a pet turtle. They were going to eat him but we saved Tortle from the pot.

WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

I got to have exchanges as well with Sister Oquindo! I was here when she first arrived in the mission and on exchanges we got to celebrate her 6 months in the field. She's all grown up now.

Us looking for the elect and also when I asked. Boom roasted.

SISTER JENNY

This was by far the biggest miracle this week. This is sister Jenny. She has been taught for 8 years now and has come to church over 80 times. She's pretty much a member but can't be baptized because she and her partner are not married. Brother is a member of the church but for years literally would hide from the missionaries and members. So imagine my surprise when we were about to start teaching and then Brother comes down the stairs. I was like “hey bestie”. He didn't really say anything but grabbed a chair from outside. I asked if he would like to join and he shockingly said yes. We asked what his favorite story from the Book of Mormon is and he said Nephi. So we got to share about how Nephi kept God's commandments by building a boat. The lesson went super well and when we were about done I asked him why he chose to join. He said “ when you came my kids told me to hide and I realized I don't want that to be their view of the church”. Kids are awesome. So yes we are very excited about their family and sincerely praying Brother's heart continues to be softened so they can also be married, sister can be baptized and they can go to the temple.

REPENTANCE

It's been a rough month and I found myself reading Adjusting to Missionary Life again this week. Only like 50 days left but I'm still adjusting. Live laugh love. Anyway I was reading about meeting spiritual demands and there was one line I really loved. It said “ Remember that repentance is not just the backup plan. Repentance is the plan of happiness for every person”. God knew we would mess up. We would be short on patience. We would have bad hair days and bad temper days. We would have rocky days spiritually and that questions would arise. That is part of His plan. Repentance is the plan because Christ is the way, the truth and the light.

God loves you and He wants you back. I'm trying to fix my view of repentance and do it daily and I invite you to do the same.
