Maayad Na Aga mga Tawo! That means good morning people because it is fact morning here. Wait wait wait I have another fun thing to say in Karay-a…. “Aswong ka!” That's like “you're a witch!” Or like a vampire or something. It's been another week here in San Jose and things are getting real. Our interested people are progressing and at the same time we are getting rejected a ton as we try to find more interested people. But I'm really growing to love my area and the members here! Anyway. ASWONG KA! BRANCH FHE! We had an activity this week as a branch and we had a great turn out! It was great to see some of our interested people and less active members start making friends in the church. And then because they felt loved and welcomed they came to church the next day! YOU KNOW! I've started saying that a ton here and idk where I picked it up from but it sounds like yuno most of the time. (see pictures) This is the Namit family. (for my ilonggo speakers- yes that is thei...

Hello and welcome to another episode of Sister Larson in the Philippines Iloilo Mission. This episode takes place in a shockingly dry and hot coastal area of the island of Panay called Antique. She has just had a great week with many cameos of interested people who turn out to be not interested at all. Wa wa. She also met some super cool people this week who hopefully will make an appearance in later episodes. The stage is set. Readdyyyyyy…… ACTION MAN ON THE BEACH *with no Lana* There was one day this week where we were exploring one of our areas called Madrangca. It's the closest area to the beach and we were trying to meet some new people there. So after a while of going house to house we asked this lady where there were lots of house and she said “on the beach”. So darn it we had to go to the beach. There were in fact many houses but mostly just lots of kids. So we kept walking until we reached some boats on the shore and there was one fisherman just sitting on the side of his ...

Another week has gone by and this one was so fast. It was mega fun. I'm getting a ton better at just talking to everyone. It was something I used to get super anxious about- like you want me to just walk up to them and tell them about the gospel?- but my companions have helped me a ton to just kinda go for it. We had zone conference this week and it was kinda boring and the benches in the chapel are so hard - I'm actually sore from sitting there for so long #alongdaysnight. But as always, it's still fun to see lots of other missionaries. We also just met lots of cool people this week and one of our interested people, Jhea, accepted a baptism date!  as per ushe here are some sections ANTIQUE SISTERS Ok so there are 4 totals sisters in Antique zone and we all live in one house. Its a party to see each other all the time. I'm learning a ton from each of them. Also they're all good at cooking and we ate an entire like 8x8 tray of eggs this week. So when we go grocery sh...

Hey guys! This week was a lot of craziness. We had no power for like 3 days. I transferred *WHAT*. I spent a night in the mission home (they have a heated shower and I thought I had died and gone to heaven). I had my “pass off” so I'm officially not a trainee anymore and I think I get a diploma or something so stay tuned. Lots and lots happened so here are some…. Sections TRANSFER First of all I had my last few days in Oton and officially moved to my second area. Drum roll please……. Antique! My area is called San Jose. Antique is the west coast of Panay and is often referred to as “where the mountain meets the sea”. It's been great here so far and I'm beginning to learn the dialect here but it's pretty similar to Hiligaynon so I'm getting it pretty fast.  I said goodbye to Sister Sadueste and Sulapas which was a bummer because our trio was a party. But I got my new companion, Sister Pecundo and she's super fun too. She laughs a lot and is supes good at the langu...

This one was one for the books. Let's just say some big milestones and stuff happened. Like I officially have 1 year left. Mind blowing. Try to get a hold of yourselves. And I got a special little phone call from the assistant to the president and I will no longer be in Oton next time I'm writing this email. Hah- cliff hanger. Now that I have you all on the edge of your respective seats let me share a few quick things from this week Sections ESTRIBOR FAMILY We have one older couple in our ward who were some pioneering members of the church in Oton. They have been less- active for a few years but we have been visiting them recently and tatay (the father) returned to church! They are definitely my grandparents here in Oton and they always feed us so so so much food. Tatay is almost 80 and he always pulls up in Guess jeans and a yankees hat. Nanay is bedridden but always cracks jokes and keeps her vibes positive. I don't have any pics with them but I'll get one this week. ...
