Feeling Poetic

Image
This week has absolutely inspired me. So I wrote a haiku. Ode to San Jose My shoes are dusty My clothes are musty The fish here can be crusty It may be hard to believe but I actually just wrote that this morning. But for real this week had some legit highs and lows. Allow me to illustrate them. ONE DAY MISSION So there is this thing called a one day mission. Basically lots of missionaries all go to one area and work with the members there to visit families and find new people to teach. So Sister Pecundo and I worked half a day in Hamtic! It's a gorgeous area and it was really good practice just walking up and talking to people. But we got to meet some cute families and set some return appointments so hopefully we were able to help out the Hamtic area! (see pictures) RIP So this week we had to call our mission President, President Nagtalon to ask permission for some of our interested people to be baptized. We thought they would all be fine but we realized we had misunderstood some o...

Not As The World Giveth

Hello everyone! It's me, Sister Larson. This week was some classic missionary stuff. I learned a lot about missionary work and about life. For example, one lady showed us how she makes her own pills in case she ever gets poisoned. We were like “oh hey why are you adding that strange blue powder to those previously sealing pills?” And she was like “it's THE antidote”. Sheesh I might need one of those some day.  Anyway as the title of my email suggests we had a pretty big surprise this week that I will reveal later in my email. Hah. Also just for the record I am in fact eating an army biscuit while I write this. here are some pristine little sections BECAUSE I PROMISED I ran out of time last week so here are the pictures from our district activity at the strawberry far. The 6 of us for the last time *that is foreshadowing*. Anyway, feast your eyes. (see pictures) We are your single aunts on a girl trip. Ft. Sister Peters, the cutest Senior missionary. She and her husband are ador...

Strawberries

Hello mga tawo! its been another week baby. This week the highlight was definitely Jhea's baptism!  JHEA Jhea was baptized on the 10th! She was so excited and afterwards she kept saying “I feel so blessed”. It's been great watching her make friends in the church and the members embrace her. (see pictures) 6 MONTHS This past week was my 6 months in the mission! Sister Pecundo, Sister Baldueza and Sister Duran surprised me with of course the only acceptable gift for 6 months in the field:a stuffed turtle. I naturally have named him Melvin. (see pictures) EXCHANGES I worked one day this week with Sister Duran in her area! She is a trainee but also 26 and a licensed vet so… yah she's ligit. STRAWBERRY FIELDS KINDA Earlier today we had a district activity and we got to go to a strawberry farm in the mountains. It was actually a little bit chilly and I was quite pleased about that. But the chill didbeguile me and I did not sunscreen. I have paid the price and am currently a nice ...

Another One Bites The Dust

Image
Another bites the dust. I don't have a ton to write about this week but here we go.  MOTHER MARY I don't know what I did differently this week but an exponentially higher number of people, old and young, have been telling me I look like Mother Mary. *I would a pic for reference here but that seems borderline sacrilegious*. PEOPLE WE TAUGHT So as per uge we taught some people this week. We always always invite them to church and frankly they rarely come. But this week we actually had like 6 or 7 people come to church! It was a definite moment of “no effort is wasted” for me. We didn't get pictures with all of them but here are two. Pearl is the girls in the first photo and she is so fun. I also helped proofread one of her English assignments and I was really trying to remember that APA format. The second is Nanay Domingga. She is super sweet and always tries to give us her food. JHEA Jhea came to church on Sunday so she will be baptized on Saturday! (see pictures) SPIRITUAL ...
