Strawberries

Hello mga tawo! its been another week baby.

This week the highlight was definitely Jhea's baptism!

JHEA

Jhea was baptized on the 10th! She was so excited and afterwards she kept saying “I feel so blessed”. It's been great watching her make friends in the church and the members embrace her.

6 MONTHS

This past week was my 6 months in the mission! Sister Pecundo, Sister Baldueza and Sister Duran surprised me with of course the only acceptable gift for 6 months in the field:a stuffed turtle. I naturally have named him Melvin.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS KINDA

Earlier today we had a district activity and we got to go to a strawberry farm in the mountains. It was actually a little bit chilly and I was quite pleased about that. But the chill didbeguile me and I did not sunscreen. I have paid the price and am currently a nice shade of fire engine red. *there will be not picture for reference so as not to perpetuate my shame*.

Also the title of this section includes kinda for 2 reasons. Number one because we at first missed the turn off and ended up at a Noah's Arc themed tourist spot in literally the middle of no where. So that was cool. And reason number two once we actually got to the farm there were very few strawberries and they were not available for eating. But it was still a blast to hang out with our district and the Peters (the senior couple that drove us).

THE PRODIGAL'S RETURN

So recently I've been really loving the story of the Prodigal Son. “A certain man had two sons”. One demands his inheritance and promptly leaves home and his family behind in search of worldly joy. You know the rest. But the part of this story that has been really sticking with me is the way his father reacts when the son chooses to return. In Elder Uctdorf’s talk “The Prodigal and The Road That Leads Home” he sheds some light on this story. He describes just hoe heartwrenching this entire experience must have been for the poor father and how often he must have looked down the road prayer to see his son again. “And then one day, the father looks out on that lonely road—the road that leads home—and sees a distant figure walking toward him. Is it possible? Though the individual is a great way off, the father knows in an instant it is his son.” He runs to his son. And immediately throws his arms around him and kisses him. This story is how our heavenly father reacts when we turn to him. The moment we “come to ourselves” and humbly choose to return to him. He sees us. Even from a great way off. He sees our efforts to return and he will meet us more than half way. It is as Elder Ucdorf said “the moment we have been hoping for all these years.” He has been anxiously waiting for you. You are his child and he desperately wants you to come back to him. If you have wandered from home and away from our Heavenly Father I invite you to take a few small steps of faith. Just try and come back. He sees you, even a great way off, and he will run to you and safely bring you home.

I love this gospel, I love my Savior, I love the Book of Mormon and I know God has a plan for us.
