A Myriad Of Germane Encounters

Image
This week had me feeling bereft after a myriad of germane encounters, with a dearth of accepted attestations of our message. I just started reading Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage and I'm loving it but I have to read it side by side with a thesaurus. So in my efforts to not forget my deep english I’m going to try and use the words I read this week from Talmage. Please enjoy this treatise. A MYRIAD OF GERMANE ENCOUNTERS Yah so we taught a lot of people this week annnnd most of them were semi interested. Also do you remember Rodrigo? Yah we went back and some baptists were set up in their village with free food, flip flops and a freakin sound system. So suddenly Rodrigo didn't want to talk to us so much. That's our bad. Next time I'll bring some flip flops. So Sister Castañaga and I were feeling quite sheepish as we drudged our way back to Numancia. See picture for definition of drudgery. Back In Dubai

STATUS UPDATE times we accidentally ordered coffee this week: 2 chicken heads consumed: .5 miles walked: so many Sheeeesh another week has come and gone. People ask me everyday how much time I have left in the mission. This week was the first time someone has responded saying “oh so you're almost done”. HUH ????. Hold your horses buddy I just got here. It's going fast but I love every second of it.  Anyway Here are some things that happened this week. ATI VILLAGE (see pictures) One area Sister Castañaga and I have kinda just started to explore is called Ati Village. The people who live here are part of a native tribe and have their own culture and language. We have one super active member family here and even though its super far from the church they still come every week. Baskog guid. They also make really good isaw. I asked them to teach me their language but they told me its forbidden. RIP. They taught it to the Elders. De heck. (see pictures) This is Rodrigooooo. He was tau...

Well, I Made Some Rocks

Hellooooooo it's Sister Larson again. Surprise. It's been a solid week. I had a cold which shouldn't have been that much of a big deal but it had me feeling like one of those frogs that came out in the rain but then got hit by a motorcycle and then dried up in the sun. You know that feeling?  I made a collage to better illustrate. But just like these dead frogs still made this beautiful collage my week was still beautiful and full of miracles. (Picture 1) EXCHANGES A highlight of this week was our exchanges with the Kalibo 2nd sisters! I got to work with Sister Camain who is a girlboss. We met lots of cool people and got some new mosquito bites. (Pictures 2-3) NUMANCIA PEOPLE AND PLACES Numancia never ceases to amaze me. One moment it's dusty beer bottles and factories and the next it's the most stunning sunset over a flooded rice field. But more than the scenery is the people. With that in mind, here are some of the beautiful children of God we taught this week (an...

Proselyting Bags

Image
This week has been supes chill. I did look like a tim burton character (the guy who made Nightmare Before Christmas and Wednesday and stuff). Even my eyes have proselyting bags. But legit this cycle presented a challenge but it has also been filled with so many miracles and it's only week two. Please enjoy this multimedia presentation NANAY LILIA Yesterday was the baptism of Nanay Lilia! She was already prepared and ready to go when I got here but she has quickly become one of my favorites. She is 70+ years old, speaks deep Aklanon and is super sassy. The Sunday of her baptism she and her family all wore white at church. Her son is also on date to be baptized and we are super excited to watch them continue on the covenant path! Feat. Keens ni sister larson (see pictures) COOKERIST this week I made pansit which is notable because normally when its my turn to cook I just crack open a can of century tuna and heat it up if I'm feeling fancy.  We also tried Balut this week and it wa...

Numancia Baby

Hey guys, you are reading my first ever email from Numancia. This past week was lots of goodbyes, bus rides and me not understanding what people are saying. Double thumbs up. My new area so far is super different from my last area in San Jose but I love it here. My new comp is Sister Castañaga and she is the nicest person I have ever met. Anyway, here's the rundown.  LAST MOMENTS IN ANTIQUE My week from Sunday to Thursday was still about normal work wise with some added packing and goodbyes. It was so hard saying goodbye to some of our new converts and so yah I maybe cried a little. My very last day of work in San Jose almost none of our appointments went through and was feeling a little bit the worst. But Sister Pernitez and I (shout out to my daughter she's all grown up and saving China) decided to introduce the Book of Mormon to this lady we met on the street. She was outside this lodge full of drunk men and while we were explaining the Holy Ghost this absolute broski pokes ...
