Greased Lighting

Image
Hey besties it's been another week which is all too believable. The heat alone has made each day feel like an eternity. It's literally so hot they have canceled school. When people see us walking around they always tell us to be careful and look at us the way I would look at John Travolta if I ever saw him. Maybe one day…. Even though it's been long and hot it's also been a really good week. We didn't take a ton of pictures but here we go. *john travolta will no longer be mentioned in this piece of writ* JOVIE AND ABU The highlight of this week was definitely the baptism of Jovie and Abu! It was on Saturday and not hardly any members came but the spirit was strong and they were so excited. They were confirmed the next day at church! Jovie came by himself so he could be ontime and he wore a button up for the first time! Abu was late and came in like greased lighting during Jovie's confirmation. But they were so excited. And Jovie will receive  the priesthood next...

Begin With The End In Mind

Image
Hey everyone! This week was super busy so it's been getting faster and faster. The highlight of the week was definitely Christian Ric's baptism! We said goodbye to sister Bentley RIP and I cried just only a little bit. And Abu, Jovie and the Barcenal Family are moving closer and closer to their baptism! We have been incredibly focused this week on helping families work towards the temple. With that in mind most of my email will be centered around the temple and the individual stories of people I have seen work towards the temple.  COVENANTS  I finally got to watch a session of a general conference and I'm gobbling it up. I feel like every talk was about temples and covenants. With that in mind Sister Pernitez and I have been trying to mention temples, covenants, families and the truths restored through Joseph Smith. I realized we were waiting too long to explain what in reality is God's end goal for each of us, temples and eternal families. Why should we even hesitate f...

ANOTHER ONE IN ANTIQUE

Image
Mayad na aga from San Jose, Antique! I just cleaned some maggots off our porch. We had transfer calls this week and I will be staying here which means Sister Pernitez has to put up with me for another cycle. Yuno. But it's been a really good week overall. We also had Zone Con this week which is always so fun to see other missionaries! Anyway, here is some information about my week.  WORK, WORK, WORK Just a few pics from our work this week. Featuring the time I are really spicy siomai and I had to take Sister Pernitez's Mountain Dew because I was not doing so hot. (see pictures) EXCHANGES My MTC self would have freaked out if she knew I would have exchanges with Sister Bentley. We had a day just the two of us and it was so stinkin fun. Also people kept asking us if we were siblings and we said yes every time. Also RIP Sister Bentley's Antique era because now she's leaving us for freaking BORACAY. We also had a lesson with a guy and after we prayed he was like “I'll s...

Chacos And Endangered Species

Image
The rat ate my chacos.  Now that I got that off my chest let me tell you about my week. In order to better encapture your senses let me give you some background details…. It got up to 50° C this week which is quite undesirable. That's the only detail but it significantly impacted my will to live this week.  SAVE THE ENDANGERED SPECIES One of the people we are teaching right now is named Cleo! He is 14, has read the Book of Mormon up till Alma and came to church this week! In our lesson with him on Saturday we shared about our purpose on earth and asked him what some of the things are that he thinks we should do on earth. He responded with prayer, be good people, go to church and of course save the endangered species. I said “So true”. Everyone reduce your carbon footprint please and bring reusable bags to the grocery store. ABU AND JOVIE (see pictures) Sister Pernitez And I are still teaching Abu and Jovie and helping them prepare for baptism! This week they invited thier frie...

The Boys Are Back

Image
Hello everyone! It's been another week which is unbelievable. I’m almost halfway through my mission which is more than mind blowing. I swear I just finished my training. Anyway its been a solid week. The highlight was 100% Pearl's baptism!!!! I also realized I have been writing my haikus wrong. I've let down Ms. Tompson, my 8th grade English teacher. Rip. PEARL She made it! Pearl got baptized!! She passed her interview on Tuesday and was baptized on Saturday and confirmed on Sunday!  The day of her baptism we were having a really hard time coordinating with the branch so we went super early to the chapel to make sure everything was ok. And it's a good thing we did. There was no water in the font, the room was filthy and there was no program. Then the handle to fill up the font was super stuck and we couldn't figure out how to stop the drain. I was about 2 minutes from putting rocks over the drain and filling that font bucket by bucket if I had to, when the Powells a...
